“Echoes of Home” - CSP Quartet
Our season opening concerts explore the idea of home, and features Shelley Washington’s “Middle Ground”, which the composer describes as “my refuge born from the land living in my heart”, as well as folk song and dance settings by the Danish String Quartet. The heart of the program is Dvorak’s famous “American” Quartet, which he wrote on a visit to Iowa while homesick for his native Prague. The concert is followed by a catered reception, and all proceeds go to our free education program!

“Cornerstones” - CSP Quartet
Our January concerts feature two cornerstones of the quartet repertoire, both of which set the standard for everything that followed. We’ll begin with Mozart’s D minor, written in tribute to his teacher, Haydn, the inventor of the string quartet. The centerpiece of the program is Bartok’s monumental 4th Quartet, which redefined what was possible for a string quartet and features one of the most beautiful and haunting slow movements ever written. The concert is followed by a catered reception, and all proceeds go to our free education program.
